Astrill VPN Client App Reviews

App no longer works in China, and the PC version only works in Stealth mode and with limited server connections. Instances of not a single server connection available in all of UK and SE Asia. Have used Astrill in China for over a year with no issues until beginning of Feb 2016. Two months waiting and no solution. If you need a VPN for use in China, Astrill is not the one for you.

Works great on several domestic and overseas servers I tried. Very simple to use.

App loads to phone and you click on the link to sign up and it asks for email says it will send a password there, but then the keyboard does not go away so you cant click next so you have to click go on the keyboard and it just says wrong IP and shows an IP address in the 209 range. Please fix as I would like to try out your VPN and give you a better rating.

I paid for the VPN service which enabled me to use astrill VPN on my PC laptop and my iPhone using this app. When using this app, I could not connect to any website. Numerous messages to tech support with no resolution and very poor on responsiveness. Total waste of money. Using a different VPN provider now that does work.

i paid to astrill a plan for 1 year and now im using a "free vpn" for almost 3 month which work better than astrill. and the excuse they give is " Beijing meeting so have restriction " they dont wanna refund money also solve problem!!!

The iPhone app doesnt work at all while in China. What a waste of money.

This app was good until January 2016. I had it for more than a year without any issues. It has been on a downhill slide ever since. It has been a month since the political meetings in Beijing ended and nothing has been resolved in terms of access to blocked websites on my iPad. There hasnt been a single warning, notification, or e-mails from the company about the status of the mobile app. My subscription is up in May, but will cancel it in a few moments because it has been rendered absolutely useless here in mainland China. Buyer beware.

I live in China and Im use to some interruptions in service, but usually its fixed after a week or two. Its been months since Ive been able to use Astrill on my iPhone or iPad. Im now writing this from Vietnam where Im getting the same, due to meetings in Beijing, message...the Beijing meetings have been done for a month+, and Im currently in a country that doesnt block half as much as China and I still cant use this very expensive product. Needless to say, I will be moving on from Astrill after 4 years of patronage. There is no brand loyalty if your product doesnt work. Dont rest on your rep Astrill

Waste of money.

This VPN provider is horrible, hasnt worked properly since December and now works only sometimes on any device and when it does its extremely slow on my 100mb/s connection I get at most 3mb/s on others Im able to reach at least 30mb/s and yes Im living behind the great firewal

I was very happy with Astrill until a few weeks ago. I bought it for a friend in China and recently started using it myself (Im in the US). But a few weeks ago the iPad app failed to connect although the desktop app works fine. Each time I have to delete the app, restart my iPad, and download it again. Then it works. Interested to see others have this problem. Thinking of changing VPN though it means losing my money.

While living in China from September to December 2015, Astrill met all my expectations. From February to April 2016, Astrill works intermittently on my MacBook and not at all on my iPhone and iPad. Their technical support is unavailable online. They did answer an email with a non-informative response. I cannot recommend Astrill at this time.

I live in Shanghai. App worked great up until Jan 2016. Why arent the Astrill app developers fixing the issue on the mobile app. Works fine on my Mac but not at all on the devices. When will you fix it? People are leaving for other providers.

I used it since 2011 it was amazing tell last month.

If youre looking for a VPN to use on an iPhone in China dont waste your money, it hasnt worked for months. Still works well on my Windows computer, but not sure about other devices.

Bottom line: Astrills iOS app does not work in China. Despite saying it is connected, there is zero data throughput. This was not always the case but since the most recent Communist Party Congress, the app has completely stopped working. The UI is well-designed and easy to use; however, as it is now, there is no point to download this app, especially if this would be your only way to use Astrill. Find a different VPN provider until this company and get its act together!

Paid for an entire year. The app stopped working after about a couple weeks....waited it out for a month and then contacted customer service. They made one attempt at helping me without avail and then proceeded to ignore my requests for a refund. Avoid this app at all costs.

This app needs to be fixed immediately!!!
